Timothy Cummings is one of the country's most successful and intriguing young artists. A native of New Mexico, Timothy began his art career with a show at the Armoury of the Arts Gallery in Santa Fe in 1988. Sixteen years, and more than three dozen articles and media interviews later, and with more than 70 solo and group exhibitions to his credit, his work is now collected by major galleries and celebrities, such as Whoopi Goldberg. Timothy Cummings' body of work encompasses exquisite handmade dolls and sculptures, drawings, paintings, photo montages, altered polaroids and assemblages. His themes describe innocence and corruption, and the intermingling of sexuality, spirituality and religion, judgment, guilt, excess and liberation. His newest body of paintings, represented by several galleries, including Nancy Hoffman Gallery in New York and Catherine Clark Gallery in San Francisco, demonstrate such skills with acrylic paints that they sometimes recall in detail and depth masterful Dutch and Spanish oil portraits of the 17th Century.
