Glenn Halak is a successful children's book illustrator, painter, writer, playwright and musician who brings whimsy and musicality to his landscapes and symbolist paintings. Over the past 15 years, Glenn Halak's paintings have been featured in more than two dozen group and solo shows, from his first shows in 1988 in Madison, Wisc., to more recent exhibitions in Santa Fe, San Francisco, Kansas City, Mo., Chicago, Sacramento, Albuquerque and Seattle. Glenn has received numerous awards for his children's books illustrations. The Society of Illustrators awarded him with a Best Children's Book Illustration of 1991 honor for "A Grandmother's Story," published by Simon & Schuster, 1991 (out of print). "Sail On: A Book for Life," by Susan Sternkopf, with illustrations by Glenn Halak (published by Sternkopf and Halak, 2000), earned an Oregon Children's Foundation SMART book award in 2002.
