Rosenfield received his BFA from the Tyler School of Art, Temple University, and his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Rosenfield was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship for study in Japan and was the recipient of a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.

Since arriving in New Mexico in 1991, he has been a board member and coordinator of fundraising arts events for non-profit organizations, an independent curator, and an educator.
